New Digital Single Released: 11 August 2017
Label: Aggrocat Records
“Subtle harmonies and avant-garde theatrics are setting the Scottish duo apart.” – The Line Of Best Fit
“Sheer, effortless pop music.” – Clash
Rooftops is the new digital single from Glasgow’s BDY_PRTS, released 11 August on Aggrocat Records.
BDY_PRTS are a trio creating a melody-driven indie-electro-pop fusion. It’s a sound reminiscent of the shimmering 80’s tinged pop of the likes of Ladyhawke or Wlydest, with BDY_PRTS’ two front-woman offering up sublime harmonies. BDY_PRTS however offer up something more avant-garde, particularly on their costumed, theatrical live sets.
BDY_PRTS is singer/songwriters Chicago-born Jill O’Sullivan (of cult band Sparrow And The Workshop) and Jenny Reeve (of Strike The Colours and frequent Malcolm Middleton collaborator) - alongside drummer/producer Jonny Scott (The Kills, Chvrches and Marnie).
Rooftops is BDY_PRTS third single, following IDLU (2014) and Cold Shoulder (2015), which collective saw the trio find fans in Vic Galloway (BBC Radio Scotland) and Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 6 Music). The band have played the coveted BBC Introducing Stage at T In The Park (2015) and saw their first two singles premiered on the likes of Clash as a ‘Track of the Day’ and on New York City label blog Neon Gold respectively. With Cold Shoulder also finding itself on BBC Radio 1 Introducing playlist with, to date, a massive quarter of a million streams on Spotify alone.
Rooftops was written, recorded and produce by BDY_PRTS and engineered by David McAulay and Jamie Savage, and mixed by close friend Paul Savage (Franz Ferdinand, Mogwai).
BDY_PRTS are set to release their debut album later in the year with UK live shows to be announced soon.
