Danny Green, aka Laish, is set to release his third album Pendulum Swing on 4 November 2016 via Talitres. A set of twelve songs that span the spectrum of gentle fingerpicked acoustic guitar ballads, through to more robust art-rock jams.  Laish’s plaintive tenor - rich, deeply textured and affecting - takes centre stage as he sings honest, self-reflective songs of relationships failed and survived.

Danny Green formed the band Laish in Brighton in 2008 and became part of the Willkommen Collective, the Brighton alternative folk scene which included the bands Sons of Noel and Adrian (which Green was also a member of from 2008-2014) and The Leisure Society. Laish have released two records, their eponymous debut (2010, Willkommen Records) and Obituaries(2013, Folkwit Records), both recorded by Green at his home. Both received much critical acclaim, with radio plays including BBC6 Music (Marc Riley, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe, Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio 3’s The Late Junction, BBC Scotland (Roddy Hart) and Amazing Radio (Dani Charlton).

Now based in London, Green’s move to the capital, after a life immerged in the Brighton music scene, proved a motivation and inspiration.  As Green expands:

"I could feel myself becoming fossilised in Brighton, hardening into the grooves of my drinking and laziness so before I became fully set in amber, I dragged myself away and moved to London.  Landing in the capital as a single and penniless adult was a harsh slap in the face, a mirror held up to my failure and lack of preparation for any kind of real life outside of music.

I spent a year of gradually learning to love the pace of life in the city and I finally found the nerve to book a real studio and get to work on the album that had been forming during this turbulent period. I was honest with myself about the sounds and the kinds of songs that excite my ears. I wanted to get across a simple truth but for there to be no barriers to the listener, for it to really sound vibrant, sexy and humorous."

Pendulum Swing was produced by Danny Green and recorded, mixed and co-produced by Dave Gerard at Watchtower Studios, North London. The album will be released on CD, Vinyl and Digitally via Talitres on 4 November.

Danny Green has had an impressive independent career performing both solo and with a full band as Laish. Prominent shows include some of the UK’s most prestigious venues: The Union Chapel, The Roundhouse, Barbican, St Pancras Old Church and Kings Place, and extensive showcases at festivals including End of the Road Festival and Cambridge Folk, sharing stages with Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Richard Dawson, Martha Wainwright, Rozi Plain, Wave Pictures and Jason Lytle.
