In their own words...... "Led Zeppelin. A teensy bit bluesy. Free. One foot in the Mississippi. ZZ Top. Part John Lee Hooker, part getting-drunk-with-hookers"- Classic Rock. Read the piece here.
The Drowning Men release their UK debut album 'All Of The Unknown' today (19th August)..........“Widescreen melodies that bubble up from tiny details” -
An insightful interview with Alela Diane. Read entire interview on For Folks Sake.
Alela Diane's recently released album 'About Farewell' has received massive UK acclaim, being 'Album of the Week' in The Telegraph, Sunday Times Culture and Sunday Express with many big 4**** reviews across other broadsheets and music print press (scroll down for just a small selection below). Similarly online saw a glowing 8/10 review on TLOBF and a near-perfect 4.5/5 on Music OMH. Some quotes below:
Heritage Orchestra + Scanner are set to tour their 'Live Transmission: Joy Division Reworked' show for the first time in Autumn. The show is a spectacular one-of-a-kind electro, orchestra and visual reinterpretation of one of the UK's most influencial bands, Joy Division. The show has only ever been performed twice - at Brighton Dome and Sydney Opera House - both to massive acclaim (see below quotes).
Taking in the sights of their homelands Totnes, from the seafront to the town centre, Matthew & Me's new video for 'Modern Life' is like an ad campaign for Devon, summer and the joys of jogging. The track is taken from their forthcoming 'MMXIII' EP and also their double-A side 7" vinyl (with 'Hide & Seek' on the flipside) released simultaneoulsy on the 15th July.
Ahead of their Husky Rescue feature (to run in July's issue of the magazine) Electronic Music have written a rather lovely review of Husky Rescue's new album 'The Long Lost Friend'.
"Unpredictable and captivating" - Electronic Music
For Folks Sake caught up with Husky Rescue's founder Marko Nyberg at The Great Escape. Read the full interview here.
Before they wowed everyone in Brighton for The Great Escape, Husky Rescue played some shows in their homelands of Scandinavia and some other European destinations. Not ones to follow convention, they made a 'tour diary' which was photos and captions conveying the atmosphere and their quirky take on every city they visited. Planet Notion posted it today. Most definitely worth a look/read in full here.
....the big teasers can't offer up the whole album yet as it's yet to be released in the US, but over here we've been given a beauty of a 5-track album samper of their finest, dreamiest, most epic Southern rock. Catch them playing with Flaming Lips tomorrow (Tuesday 21st) at London's Roundhouse, headlining Barfly, London on Wednesday 22nd and from the 24th-26th playing the regions as part of Dot to Dot festival.
